Introduction to
Ultimate
Captains: Ellie W., Maggie W., Aurora R.
Coach: Patrick Morrissy. Coach Pat will be at practices
several days a week and be at our tournaments. He also meets with the captains
weekly.
Ultimate is a team sport, with 7-on-7 per point on the
field. Intent is to score in the end zone. Big part of ultimate is spirit of
the game, which is to say sportsmanship. Respect and communication are key
elements of the game, as we have no referees and our rules are self-policed.
More about Ultimate here!
Expectations
Players should be at preseason a minimum of 3 days a week.
If there are extenuating circumstances, players should discuss their
availability with the captains in writing (via email or text.) Official practices
will be run from 3:30 to 6pm at New Waterlands Field in South Orange. Players
must attend 3 practices a week, preferably all 5, as we base playing time at
tournaments on practice attendance and effort.
Official practices
begin March 4th, 2013.
Communications: the team email is chs.sparklemotion@gmail.com If you need to reach the captains, please
email this account. This website will be used to disperse information to
players and parents so please subscribe! (There’s a box to the side of the site
with which you can subscribe to the site.) On our site, we have sign up for
tournaments, the player agreement, our calendar and a link to our Flickr
account.

advance.
**Our record throughout the season will determine admission
to regionals. So we will not know until later into the season.
Financials
Dues are $400 for the spring season. For returning players,
uniforms were paid for with the money raised from the discount card fundraiser;
for new players, uniforms will be ordered and paid for later in the season.
Please email Lisa Philips directly at maggio2@gmail.com if you have any concerns
with paying dues. She is willing and able to create a payment plan to cover the
cost of the spring season. Understand that the dues cover all travel and tournament
fees; the only cost not covered by dues are for uniforms and the ticket to fly
to Atlanta, as we take a select squad to the tournament, thus charging the
whole team for airfare is not necessary.
Parent Participation
Parents are expected to help the team—whether by driving to
tournaments, providing snacks and bottled water, etc. We will be posting a pdf
of the parent participation sign up forms shortly, we request that you fill one
out and return them to Lisa Philips as soon as possible.
